About #SuperPowerMe
In 2014 at the 12th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards, we paid tribute to five living arts legends (#TokohSeni) – Chin San Sooi, Dato’ Faridah Merican, Datin Marion D’Cruz, Normah Nordin and Dato’ Rahim Razali – who shaped modern performing arts in Malaysia. These five superhero legends groomed their superpowers to the legendary levels they are today and we wanted to share their inspiring stories with more people.
In 2015, Kakiseni started #SuperPowerMe with a book entitled “... And Oh, These Are My Superpowers” and co-published with MPH Publishing. Authored by Michelle Yoon and fearlessly illustrated by Dave Liew and Balkis Burhanudin, this unique motivational workbook aimed to help you discover the superhero in you and contains a collection of humorous anecdotes, quotes and sage advice from our #TokohSeni. This book is also a unique experience that is full creative challenges to help you power up your own superpowers.
Workshops
The #SuperPowerMe journey continued off the page and into schools as we launched a series of motivational workshops for teenagers in 2016. The workshops incorporated performing arts principles and techniques to help these students discover what truly makes them happy and inspire them to take risks and to believe in themselves.
