#GameChangers 2017

Kakiseni launched the #gamechangers social media campaign to go hand-in-hand with the 14th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards, in hopes that the Awards will act as a catalyst to inspire a generation of artists and producers to be bold gamechangers. This campaign highlights Malaysian talents and creatives who have not only made a huge impact within their chosen fields, but also stamped their mark on the international arena.

 

Kun Seng Keng Lion and Dragon Dance Association

Kun Seng Keng Lion and Dragon Dance Association was founded in Muar, Johor, by Mr Tan Chong Hing. Without prior experience in the lion dance industry, Mr Tan was motivated entirely by his strong passion for the art form. Starting out as a humble lion dance troupe participating in local lion dance competitions, Kun Seng Keng has since grown to become a household name within the lion and dragon dance community.

Since its inception in 1988, Kun Seng Keng has won 75 national and 63 international titles, including being 11-time winners at the Genting World Lion Dance Championship.

 

Rani Moorthy

Born in Kuala Lumpur, Rani Moorthy moved to Singapore in her youth, where she became a star, both on stage and on screen, and even hosting her own hit TV comedy, The Ra Ra Show. She moved to the UK in 1996, and two years after that, she formed Rasa Theatre with producer Ed Higginson and video director Arthur Smith. Her latest show was Whose Sari Now?, a one-woman piece she both wrote and performed.

In addition to her work with theatre, she also writes for TV, such as for BBC1, and has appeared in various TV shows such as Coronation Street, A&E and Cold Feet. She is also a regular contributor and presenter on BBC1’s The Heaven and Earth Show, and BBC Radio 2’s Pause For Thought. Her short film, Incense has been shown in various film festivals around the globe, such as Berlin, Cannes and New York.

 

Rendra Zawawi

Rendra Zawawi graduated with a Degree in Civil Engineering before he decided to pursue his passion in music. After releasing a chart-topping single, Faceless, in 2012, he went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Contemporary Writing and Production.

Currently based in Los Angeles, Rendra Zawawi is known for co-writing and co-producing Arena Cahaya, theme song for local blockbuster Ola Bola, with award-winning singer-songwriter Zee Avi. He now serves as a music consultant for Sound Leadership, a company that combines organizational leadership with music storytelling. He is also assistant to Emmy-winning composer Mac Quayle, working on shows such as American Horror Story: Hotel, and American Crime Story.
